Who Is Bill
Bailey?
Mark "Bill"
Bailey was born in Bath, Somerset, and is an English comedian, actor,
and musician known for appearing on TV shows Never Mind
the Buzzcocks, QI, Have
I Got News For You, and Black Books
as well as his stand up comedy. He is a self proclaimed "confused
hippy" known for his thin goatee and long hair and a lifelong
Wurzels fan. He was listed by The Observer as one of the 50 funniest
acts in British comedy, in 2003.
Bill occasionally references The Wurzels in his routines. In his
Bewilderness show he mentions knowing
them 'when they were a German techno band, Die Würtzels - and
then they sold out, went all oo-arr country', as well as performing
a pastiche of Combine Harvester in the
style of Chris de Burgh. In an appearance on BBC2's Never Mind
The Buzzcocks, Bailey stood and saluted a playing of the intro
to Combine Harvester. That is enough to get him a mention
here!

The
Many Moods of Bill Bailey
"Well
you asked for it...The Many Moods of Bill Bailey
is the song book that you've been requesting for years, and
collects nine of Bill's most popular songs from the period
of 1995-2005 with accompanying piano music, guitar tabs and
lyrics. This collection also features introductions from Bill
which gives us background to their creation, and an array
of photographs and archive posters. The cover art, a 60s pastiche
designed by Joe Magee, is also particularly resplendent, making
this far more special than your average songbook, and a real
collector's item. But
the real attraction of owning this book is the knowledge that
you will finally be able to recreate Bill's music in your
own home. With music for piano and guitar, and complete lyrics,
you have everything you need to bring these songs to life
in the comfort of whichever venue you choose to play them." |

Black Books: Series 1 [2000]
Black Books: Series 1 follows the adventures of bookshop
owner Bernard (Dylan Moran), his assistant Manny (Bill Bailey)
and Fran (Tamsin Greig), who works in a new age shop next
door. In this entertaining and surreal comedy, Moran and Bailey
make a great double act--they deliver the tightly written
script (by Moran and "Father Ted" co-writer Graham
Linehan) with consummate ease, while Fran does an admirable
job of diffusing the tensions that arise between Bernard and
Manny. The Black Books: Series 1 contains all the episodes
from the first series: “Cooking The Books”, “Manny’s
First Day”, “The Grapes of Wrath”, “The
Blackout”, “The Big Lock-Out” and “He’s
Leaving Home”.

Black Books: Series 3 [2002]
Black
Books: Series 3 continues to provide lots of laughs and
entertainment from the surreal comedy series which follows
the lives of the "Black Books" store workers, Bernard
and Manny, and their friend next door, Fran. The hilarious
trio does all it can to keep the outside world outside of
the bookshop--even to the point where they don't care if they
sell a single book. Their unbelievable stupidity means that
life is never simple. Episodes in this series include: "Manny
Come Home", "Elephants and Hens", "Moo-Ma
and Moo-Pa", "A Little Flutter", "Travel
